A Case Study of Group Psychotherapy for a Mental Retardation Child with Withdraw


Abstract
This is a case study to apply group psychotherapy program to a child with mental retardation and withdrawn. The group was consisted of four boys, one subject and three other children, with mental retardation. The goal of this group psychotherapy was to decrease dependence and to improve interaction with peers. The program was done 12 sessions by therapist, maintaining with supportive role to all the children.
In the early period of sessions, the subject child acted passively and just looked at peer¢¥s play. Over the sessions, the child changed more spontaneous and interacted with peers, decreasing with his dependence.
